Ghajini...What Happened to Indian cinema!!?

I recently saw Ghajini starring Aamir Khan and the hot mallu actress Asin...Overall, it was rather disappointing. It TRIES to be "Memento" but falls short. The soundtrack by AR. Rahman was great though. Maybe I had high hopes and expectations because it was Aamir Khan, who rarely disappoints. I must say i have been really disappointed with indian cinema over the last few years because I feel that india has soo much to offer in the world of cinema but it's trying so hard to be westernized that it's losing it's cultural identity in cinema. People used to be able to watch indian movies as a family but now you can't even do that with all the filth and raunchy films out now. If it's not filthy or full of rubbish than it's just brainless humor. I guess I've always been partial to the older movies like Sholay, Yadon Ki Barat, Satayjit Ray films, old Mohan Lal/Mamooty, old Amitabh and Dilip Kumar movies. Once in a while you have films like "Slumdog Millionaire" made by non indian directors that keeps indian cinema alive. How sad is that!!? They must be thinking..."If you indian filmmakers aren't going to expose the beauty and culture of your country; then hell, we will"

Paging Dr. Sanjay Gupta..

By now every indian in America is ecstatic over the news that CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta could possibly be Surgeon General. I gotta tell ya, I really admire the man for what he's done. He's a brilliant doctor. He was one of the first indians to hit the mainstream news networks and he's become a household name. Barack asked him cause he knew he was a well liked, respected, and has tremendous knowledge. Name a popular brown dude on news tv and NO, Asianet DOES NOT COUNT!!

Jammin to Bobby Womack...

The other day I was watching "Across 110th Street", an early 70s gangster flick. Some would call it a blaxploitation film. It's debatable. It's probably one of the most underrated crime films of the 70s. If your looking for something gritty and authentic..definitely check it out...it's pretty damn old...you can find it at the video store or netflix it...I been listening to Bobby Womack lately...He actually did the theme song to this movie and his song has also been used in films like "Jackie Brown" and "American Gangster"....

Was there a second "shoe-ter"?

All right, bad joke. But how fuckin crazy was it with this reporter throwing his shoes at our great president? I guess if you're leaving office, why not go out in style..I was dyin cause CNN kept putting it in slow motion to analyze how security reacted to it...It's not freakin Kennedy!...But, if this reporter was able to throw BOTH shoes at the man, then Bush's security guy wasn't exactly Kevin Costner in The Bodyboard!!! Am I right??

It took 8 years and an Iraqi reporter to throw a pair of shoes at W...

Poppin my blog cherry....

Since high school, I been writing in a black and white marble notebook. Call me old school. I kept all my notebooks over the years which not only included daily thoughts but some of the most bugged out drawings known to man. No, i wasn't drawing dicks like the fat kid in SUPERBAD. But I have no idea what i was thinking in those days. I was a pretty weird kid. STILL am. Writing has always been a form of therapy for me. Let me rephrase that. Writing LONG hand has always been a form of therapy for me. I don't know how people can write on their computers these days. You got the internet, email, facebook, myspace...PORN! How do you not get distracted!!? How does anything get done? Nobody writes longhand anymore!! For me, there's just something about writing on paper. My chicken scratch handwriting and sketches (that can be mistaken for Egyptian hyroglifics) become personal. If anyone were to steal any of them (which i doubt), you'd have to call Professor Langdon (The DaVinci Code) to make sense out of it.

Anyway, so yeah i decided what the hell...I'll start a blog..
